Martha Holland

Martha Baldridge Holland, 91, of Raleigh went to live with the Lord March 13, 2013.

Martha was born in Dresden, Tennessee, one of five children. She loved her family, her friends, her extended family at the NCSU School of Forestry where she worked as an Administrative Secretary for 23 years, her dear neighbors, and her church family. Her love showed in a yard full of colorful flowers, beautiful clothes that she designed and sewed for her family, and countless documents that she edited for the faculty and graduate students at NCSU. She made the world a better place by volunteering at the election polls, tutoring English as a Second Language, delivering Meals on Wheels, and scribing for Keenagers. Martha encouraged everyone she met to do their best, value advanced education, learn about the world through travel, and love God. She loved reading, traveling, and playing cards and golfing with friends.

She will be missed by her daughter Carla Gardner and husband George of Emerald Isle, NC; son Roger Holland and wife Marti of Plano, Texas; son Gary Blankenship of Los Angeles; two beloved nieces, Paula Baldridge and Barbara Kimmons; her sister-in-law, Emily Baldridge; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

A celebration of Martha’s life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 24 at Avent Ferry United Methodist Church, Raleigh, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Avent Ferry United Methodist Church, 2700 Avent Ferry Rd, Raleigh, NC 27606
