Helen Elizabeth "Plue" Burns, 84, a resident of Tower Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 3609 Bond Street, Raleigh, died on Saturday, March 9, 2013 after a long illness. Born in New Jersey, she also lived in West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John H. Burns, Sr., and one son, Dr. Dennis E. Burns of Lynchburg, VA. She is survived by her son, John H. Burns, Jr. and wife Amy, of Archdale, NC; a daughter-in-law, Karen Burns, of Lynchburg, VA; three grandsons - John D. Burns and wife Janice, of Raleigh, William Burns and wife Carie, of Lynchburg, VA, and Dennis Burns and wife Nordica, also of Lynchburg, VA; four granddaughters Jennifer Burns Johnson and husband Tim, of Morganton, NC, Megan Burns Argabrite and husband Eric, of Charlotte, NC, Laura Burns of Archdale, NC, and Carol Burns of Archdale, NC; and 12 great grandchildren. All of them will miss her cooking, her sense of humor, and her love of a good argument.
A family service and interment will be held at her beloved Quail Ridge Farm, in Bedford, VA, later in the spring. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in Helen's honor to the World Wildlife Fund at https://secure.worldwildlife.org/donations/memorial-donation.aspx
