Dean M. Schluchter, age 87 passed away quietly in his home surrounded by family, Saturday March 16, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years – Betty Terry Schluchter, children Terry (Tom) of Raleigh, Jill Ann Price (Ron) of Lexington, KY, David S. Schluchter of Mpls., MN, Bruce Schluchter (Risa) of Raleigh. Grandchildren Carson Dean Price, Samantha Price; great grandchildren McKenzie Lynn and Mason Dean Price. In addition he is survived by his sister Dorothy Findlay, and brother Lynn Cramer.

Dean was born in Fairgrove, MI on September 19, 1925 to Margaret Ann (nee Crosby) and Samuel Nehemiah Schluchter.

He served in World War II with the Merchant Marines and later served in the Army during the Korean War. Dean was a graduate of Michigan State University.

Dean and Betty met while Dean was stationed in Frankfurt Germany where Betty was working for the US Special Services. They were married in 1954. Dean started working for IBM in 1955, which became the beginning of a long and fulfilling 31 year career. Dean and Betty were fortunate to have made their home in Detroit, MI, White Plains & Endicott, NY before settling in Raleigh since 1964.

He was a member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Wake County or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life upon completion of arrangements.
