WAKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

— A 30-year-old man exchanged Facebook and email messages with a 12-year-old girl and knew her age before going to her home and bringing her back to his apartment to have sex, an arrest warrant and a search warrant state.

Raleigh police arrested Rajendra Man Singh at his apartment at 1613 Gorman St. on Friday night on a warrant charging him with first-degree child rape.

That warrant specifies that the girl was 12 years old when the incident happened on Feb. 22.

In a search warrant for Singh’s apartment, Raleigh police wrote that Cary police had discovered the electronic exchanges and brought them to Raleigh’s attention after subpoenaing records from Time Warner to determine where the man of the pair was.

The message traffic, police said, showed that the man was aware of the girl’s age and had some concern about it.

Detectives who searched the apartment seized a .22-caliber pistol, three conventional computers, a tablet computer and other electronics, according to the warrant returned to the Wake County Superior Court clerk’s office.

Singh was being held in lieu of $1 million bail pending an appearance before a judge Monday.
