Recap: Washington vs. Detroit

Prince Fielder, Alex Avila, Omar Infante and Ramon Santiago each singled home a run in the seventh inning, as the Detroit Tigers topped the Washington Nationals, 5-1, in Grapefruit League action.

The Tigers mustered only one hit off Washington starter Jordan Zimmermann, who tossed six scoreless innings, before coming alive against reliever Rafael Soriano.

Max Scherzer started for Detroit and allowed five hits over five frames, including a fourth-inning home run by Adam LaRoche.
