Published: March 19, 2013

— The driver of a motorbike was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a school bus at Chapel Hill and Edwards Mill roads in West Raleigh.

Joe Cephus Shelton III of Clayton was riding westbound on Chapel Hill Road when he was struck by the bus that was turning onto Edwards Mill at about 6:14 a.m., according to a Raleigh police accident report.

Police think Shelton was riding without his headlight on when he was hit. They have not cited the driver of the school bus, who was alone on the bus at the time, according to the report.

Shelton was 41. The school bus driver was not injured.
