Saltwater

Buxton/Hatteras

Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

Speckled trout and puppy drum are still being reported in the creeks. Offshore anglers reported bottom fish, but most boats remained docked. Contact: EJW Outdoors at 252-247-4725; ncwaterman.com; or ncoif.com.

Topsail Island

Weather in the area has kept most anglers off the beaches, but speckled trout and flounder can be found in the inlets. Contact: East Coast Discount Tackle 910-328-1887, eastcoastsports.com.

Southport/Sunset Beach

Offshore boats that made it out reported wahoo and scattered bottom fish . Contact: Dutchman Creek Bait & Tackle 910-457-1221; yeahrightcharters.com; or oifishingcenter.com.

Freshwater

Falls Lake

L argemouth bass are biting on jerkbaits at deep depths. Catfish have been reported at deeper depths on chicken livers and night crawlers. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 251.86, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-217-0085; wmi.org.

Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass can still be caught on crankbaits and jigs at medium to deep depths, depending on the weather. Water level: normal 300, Wednesday 299.95, full pool 320. Contact: Bobcats Bait and Tackle 434-374-8381; kerrlake.com.
