Retired Command Sergeant Major Joseph Sears, age 68, a resident of Kittrell, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4:00 PM at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church by the Dr. Carolyn Roy and the Rev. Bud Budzinski. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Julia Nell Green Sears of Apex; his wife, Susan Smith Sears of the home; his daughter, Martha Ann Sears of Selma; his son, Joseph Dudley Sears of Kittrell; two brothers, David Jackson Sears and Alan Thomas Sears both of Apex; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2:30 til 3:30 PM at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church. At other times they will be at the home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kerr Lake Ministries, 3031 Dick Smith Rd., Kittrell, NC 27544.
