Holy Bull Stakes winner Itsmyluckyday put in a half-mile workout Saturday at Calder Race Course. The 3-year-old colt is prepping for next Saturday's Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park.
Trained by Ed Plesa Jr., Itsmyluckyday covered the four furlongs in 49 2/5 seconds.
"It couldn't have gone any better," said Plesa. "He galloped out strong. Everything in his training since the Holy Bull has gone on schedule. Now the next thing to be concerned with will be the draw (Wednesday)."
Itsmyluckyday, owned by Trilogy Stables and Laurie Plesa, began the year by winning the Gulfstream Park Derby on New Year's Day. He defeated Eclipse Award winner Shanghai Bobby in the Holy Bull by two lengths.
Also working for Plesa on Saturday was Speak Logistics. Owned by Hardaway Stable, the 3-year-old colt went a half-mile in 47 1/5 seconds.
"He worked super. He missed a work last week but bounced back to work great this morning," said Plesa. "We were planning on the Wood Memorial (Aqueduct on April 6), but now we've changed course and looking at the Blue Grass (Keeneland, April 13) in Kentucky."
Speak Logistics finished third to Orb in the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream on Feb. 23. In his first start of 2013, he was fourth behind Falling Sky in the Sam. F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.
