Matchup to Watch

LeBron James vs. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: James has pretty much locked up a repeat as NBA most valuable player. He’s actually improved in most statitical categories from a year ago.

• The Heat’s current 25-game winning streak is second-longest in NBA history. The Heat is chasing the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers, who won 33 in a row.

• James’ excellence is particularly apparent during this streak. In that span, he has averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.8 assists.

The streak has become such an attention-grabber that NBA TV made a decision Saturday to pick up tonight’s Heat-Bobcats game for national telecast.

The Bobcats have now lost 10 in a row to the Heat. Last Bobcats victory was March of 2009 before James and Chris Bosh came aboard the Heat.

Did you know?

How much has changed since James signed with Miami? The season before that, the Bobcats beat the Heat by 39 in Charlotte.
