Injured jockey Ramon Dominguez had an MRI on Monday during an appointment with his neurosurgeon. The three-time champion jockey is continuing therapy after suffering a skull fracture in January at Aqueduct.
"I had an MRI and saw my doctor this morning," Dominguez said Monday. "While he is very pleased with the progress I have made, I am not completely healed and need to continue my therapy. I feel very good physically and mentally, but my injury was serious and I need to take more time to allow myself to fully recover.
"I miss riding and I'm excited to come back when my doctors release me. It's hard because I feel so good, but I know I need to be patient and focus on my recovery."
Dominguez was injured when his mount, Convocation, clipped heels with the eventual winner, Sovereign Default. during the running of the seventh race on Jan. 18 at Aqueduct. The jockey was unseated when his mount stumbled and fell.
