Terry Kelly: Message shot

Message shot

I was amused by the recent TV commercial where the character is telling our Congresswoman (Kay Hagan) how to vote related to gun control. Here he is sitting on the bed of a truck with a gun on his lap, kids playing in the background and the gun pointed in their direction?

What type of message does that send? Couldn’t the same point have been made without the gun? Especially the way it was pointed? I was wondering if that “prop” was loaded?
