Accident snarls I-40/I-440 connection in southwest Raleigh

Foam sprayed by firefighters coats the pavement on Interstate 440 underneath Interstate 40 Friday morning in Raleigh.


— Police closed a portion of Interstate 440 at its intersection with Interstate 40 and U.S. 64 in the southwest part of the city after a crash prompted firefighters to spray foam on the highway, making it slippery.

Traffic on westbound I-40 slowed because vehicles were being restricted on ramps leading to the other roads.

The accident happened shortly before 9 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and all traffic was normal at 1:30 p.m.
