Woman found dead under bridge in northern Durham

— The body of a woman was found late Friday morning in the 400 block of Latta Road in northern Durham.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 11 a.m. and found the body of Tina Maynard, 38, lying underneath a bridge on Latta Road, between its intersections with Guess and Roxboro roads. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maynard's body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Maynard’s name was withheld until about noon on Saturday in order to notify her family members.
