Norvell Maurice Langhorne, Jr.

Norvell Maurice Langhorne, Jr., 89, died at home in Richmond on March 30, 2013. Born in Richmond, he lived in Raleigh 1960-1964 where he represented the Atlantic Coast Line RR as General Agent. In May 1983, after 41 years with ACL and successor railroads (now CSX) he retired as General Manager Sales – Administration, Jacksonville, Fl. He and his wife of 68 years, Alice, who survives him, were active members of First Baptist Church, and he was a Director of the Sir Walter Lions Club. Other survivors include his children, Carolyn Pittman, widow of F. Shields Pittman, Jr., of Raleigh, Bruce Langhorne and wife, Helen, and Janet Langhorne and husband, Michael Murphy of Richmond, four grandchildren, including Emily Funderburk and husband, Pat, and Frank Pittman of Raleigh, and four great grandsons. A memorial service will be held to honor him Monday, April 8, 11:00am, at River Road Church, Baptist. It was his request that memorial donations to the church be considered in lieu of flowers, The Endowment Fund, RRCB, 8000 River Road, Richmond, VA 23229.
