Geneva Lloyd Baker

Geneva Lloyd Baker, 98, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 5, 2013, with family and friends present. She was born to Rachel Self and Cassius Colwell Lloyd in Binger, OK, on September 28, 1914. She was preceded in death by James G. Baker, her husband of 64 years. She is survived by her children, Jo Roberts (Tom) of Fairbanks, AK, David Baker (Pamela) of Oxford, MD, James Baker (Faye) of Apex, Paul Baker (Nancy) of Salisbury, and Danny Occoquan of Durham, eleven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Geneva was a talented seamstress, weaver, teacher, potter, and horticulturist as well as a beloved mother. She was active in the life of her church in Cary for 53 years. A celebration of her life will be held at Cary Presbyterian Church, 614 Griffis St, Cary, NC 27513 on Friday, April 12, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00, and a reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Carter Center, 453 Freedom Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30307, or to a charity of your choice.
