CHAPEL HILL — No. 1 North Carolina captured its sixth straight win Wednesday night with a 7-5 win over visiting Liberty (18-16).
Junior Colin Moran paced the offense with his team-leading eight home run of the year, an opposite field grand slam in the fifth inning that pushed the Tar Heels (31-2) in front 5-1.
Leadoff man Brian Holberton reached four times on the night as he was 2-for-3 at the plate with two walks. Holberton connected on his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot that tied the contest at 1 in the third inning before Morans go-ahead home run.
Reliever Trevor Kelley (1-0) earned his first career win throwing 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
