WAKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

— An 18-year-old man from Franklinton is accused of threatening to send lewd photos of 13-year-old and 14-year-old boys to their families and post them on websites unless they kept sending him pictures of themselves last month.

Police charged Mitchell Franklin Louws of Timberlake Road in Franklinton with one count of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of extortion, all felony charges.

According to an arrest warrant police got for Louws after questioning him at the Downtown District station Wednesday evening, he encouraged the 14-year-old to take pictures of himself exposed.

That led to the sexual exploitation charge.

The warrant also charged that Louws “did threaten and communicate a threat” to the 14-year-old and to a 13-year-old demanding more nude or explicit pictures or he would send the ones he had of the 14-year-old to the boys’ friends and family and might post pictures of both boys on social media websites.

Police said it all happened between March 10 and the end of the month.

Louws was held on $50,000 bail pending a court appearance Thursday.
