Repaired lanes on Cary Parkway to reopen

From staff reportsApril 12, 2013

— Eastbound lanes of Cary Parkway between Two Creeks Road-Kilarney Road and Lake Pine Drive are expected to re-open on Sunday evening, but the westbound lanes will remain closed until at least late next week.

The road has been closed since April 1 for an emergency repairs after a culvert under the roadway was damaged by a fire that caused the 12-by-8-foot pipe to partially collapse under the westbound lanes on March 27.

The damaged culvert was replaced with a new pipe, but work remaining on the westbound lanes includes repaving the road and restoring curbs and the median. The N.C. Department of Transportation awarded a $482,120 emergency repair contract to Lane Construction Co.

Tristan Zammit, 17, has been charged with misdemeanor damage to property for setting the fire that caused the damage.
