Two motorcyclists seriously injured in Raleigh accident

— Two motorcyclists were seriously injured Friday evening when they were hit by a van that made a left turn into their path on Hammond Road.

The driver of the van, Marilyn Alethea Lloyd of Mogollon Court in Raleigh, was cited for failure to yield the right of way, according to a police accident report.

Lloyd, 55, was driving southbound on Hammond Road at about 8:30 p.m. when she attempted turned left onto Tryon Road, according to the report. She hit the motorcyclists who were riding side by side northbound on Hammond.

The riders, Timothy Day Croom and Bruce Basil Hemmingway, both of Knightdale, were taken to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
