Students at Vandora Springs Elementary School in Garner have been working on one-of-a-kind chairs to be auctioned off at the school’s annual Chairs of Hope project Thursday.

More than 40 chairs made by students in the fifth-grade art club and some community members will be auctioned to raise money for Garner’s Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. The chairs this year were decorated with favorite sports teams in mind.

The auction will be held at the school, 1300 Vandora Springs Road in Garner, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

This will be the school’s seventh year of Chairs of Hope; over the years the project has raised more than $15,000 to fund support programs for cancer patients.
