DURHAM — Henrique Cunha continued his dominant senior season with wins in singles and doubles, as Duke swept Miami 7-0 Sunday in men’s tennis.
Michael Redlicki and Jason Tahir won the first match of the day at No. 2 doubles, beating Diego Soto and Wilfredo Flores 8-5. The win is their 21st of the season. Chris Mengel and Fred Saba won No. 3 doubles 8-3 against Marco Stancati and Henrique Tsukanoto.
Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler completed the doubles sweep for Duke (19-4, 7-1 ACC) with their 10th consecutive win, beating Omar Aly and Wilfredo Gonzalez 8-4. Miami is 13-10, 2-6.
Florida State 5, North Carolina 2: Brett Clark and Esben Hess-Olesen got the Tar Heels off to a good start, defeating Andres Bucaro and Benjamin Lock 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, but North Carolina (9-12, 2-6) dropped the other two doubles matches and four singles matches to fall at home against the Seminoles (17-7, 4-4).
N.C. State 7, Maryland 0 (women): The Wolfpack won all three doubles matches and did not drop a set in singles play in the home rout against Maryland.
Meredith: Junior Puja Patel of Snowhill was selected to the USA South women’s all-tournament team in Rocky Mount. Patel is 8-0 at No. 1 singles in league competition.
N.C. State 3, North Carolina 1: Renada Davis ended a game with a home run, blasting a three-run shot in the seventh inning to as the Wolfpack beat the visiting Tar Heels.
