Durham police asks for public’s help in solving cold case

DURHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Police are asking for the public’s help in cracking an unsolved homicide from the fall of 2011.

It was around midnight on Oct. 19, 2011, when police arrived at 3704 Four Seasons Dr. in response to reports of a breaking and entering at the home of Willis Andrea Yates.

When officers arrived, they found Yates, 33, dead of a gunshot wound. Durham detectives think two men broke into the home and shot Yates, but indicated that the motive for the shooting was not clear.

Police urge anyone with information to call 919-560-4440, ext. 29332, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests, and callers do not have to identify themselves.
