Duke’s Bryan Student Center closed after bomb threat, reopened

From staff reportsApril 16, 2013

— The Bryan Student Center at Duke University was evacuated and closed for a time Tuesday morning after university police received a bomb threat against the building less than 24 hours after unannounced bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

University police, city police and an explosives-sniffing dog from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office searched the building, then declared it safe.

Duke’s “Duke Today” website said, “Members of the Duke community are encouraged to contact Duke Police (919-684-2444) if they see anything suspicious” on campus.

“If you have any information related to this incident, please contact the Duke Police Department” or use the campus police website’s reporting capability, officials said.
