Ida Helen Collins Brown, 80, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2013. Ida was born in Harnett County on June 25, 1932 to the late James Sidney Collins and Ethel Buchanan Collins. She retired after 30 years as a secretary with the NC Dept of Corrections. As long as her health permitted she made her home in Raleigh on Dorety Place.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 with Chaplain Kirk Hall officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Jamie Dailey, Clayton, NC.
Graveside service 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens, 7600 ACC Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27617.
Surviving: children, Jerry Brown (Teri) of Virginia Beach, VA, Jamie Dailey of Clayton, Don Brown (Alice) of Zebulon, Kirby Williams (Missy) of King, James Brown (Wanda) of Wilson, Eppie Brown (Linda) of Castalia; brothers, John Collins (Alberta) of Broadway, Royce Collins (Marie) of Christian Light; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Brown in 1999, and her siblings, Halford, Clayton, Tom, Sam, and Donald Collins.
