WAKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

— Police arrested Barshiri Ahmad Sandy as he was being released from WakeMed Hospital on Tuesday and charged him with robbery with a dangerous weapon in a shootout last week on Brook Knoll Place.

Henry R. Surpris, 35, of Raleigh was arrested Friday in the incident that left Marcus Shu-Aib Smith, 32, who lives in the townhome complex, with a gunshot wound in one arm.

Smith told police that the shooting happened when he argued with four people who approached him as he was returning home.

Some of them had guns, and Smith wrested one of them away and shooting started, he told police.

The four fled, and Sandy, 33, and Surpris were dropped off at Rex Hospital for treatment.

They were transferred later to WakeMed.

An arrest warrant said $1,250, a diamond bracelet and a ring were taken.

Sandy was being held Wednesday on $500,000 bail pending a court appearance on the robbery charge, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Surpris is being held on $750,000 bail.
