Oregon Inlet

Inshore anglers are catching puppy drum and sea mullet. Offshore boats are still reeling in tilefish along with reports of albacore, bluefin tuna, blackfin tuna and grouper. Contact: Oregon Inlet Fishing Center 252-441-6301,

Surf anglers found success with large red drum, sea mullet and puffers. Offshore boats reported large amounts of grouper along with a few king mackerel. Contact: Tradewinds Bait & Tackle 252-928-5491,

Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

Trout are biting in the rivers. In the surf, red drum and sea mullet are biting. Offshore, wahoo and blackfin tuna being caught. Contact: EJW Outdoors at 252-247-4725;; or

Topsail Island

Offshore boats have reported grou per, wahoo and blackfin tuna. In the inlets, speckled trout and flounder are still biting. Contact: East Coast Discount Tackle 910-328-1887,

Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach

Inshore anglers are reporting red drum, black drum, speckled trout and flounder. Surf fishing has produced good sea mullet, bluefish and scattered red drum and black drum. Nearshore, bonita and blues are biting. Contact: Tex’s Tackle 910-791-1763,

Southport/Sunset Beach

Offshore anglers are still reporting wahoo and scattered bottom fish, with a few grouper being caught . Contact: Dutchman Creek Bait & Tackle 910-457-1221;; or


Falls Lake

L argemouth bass are biting on jerkbaits in shallow waters and on deep-diving crankbaits and shaky heads in deeper depths. Crappie are still biting well on minnows and jigs. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 252.09, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-847-1222;

Jordan Lake

Crappie have moved to shallower depths with the warm weather, and are the only fish being caught. Water level: normal 216, Wednesday 216.28, full pool 240. Contact: Wilsonville General Store 919-362-7101;

Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass are biting on crankbaits and jigs at shallow to medium depths with the warm weather in the area. Water level: normal 300, Wednesday 303.87, full pool 320. Contact: Bobcats Bait and Tackle 434-374-8381;

Shearon Harris Lake

Largemouth bass are still hot in the area and biting shallow on spinner baits and plastics. Contact: The Tackle Box 919-557-8255;
