Ruby Shetter Whidby

Ruby Lorraine Shetter Whidby, 78, of Raleigh, passed away, Wednesday morning, April 24, 2013 at UNC Hospital. She was born in Walker County, Georgia to the late Harold Eugene Shetter and Maggie Lynn Wilson Shetter. Mrs. Whidby was a Raleigh native since 1960; a member of St. James United Methodist Church and a avid bowler with the Buffaloe Lanes Bowling League for many years.

Graveside services will be held at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, April 27, 2013 at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kim Lamb officiating.

She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Garner & husband Simon of Clayton; sons, Ron Whidby & wife Rachel of Raleigh and Richard Glen Whidby of Youngsville; twin sister, Ruth Loretta Smith of Savannah, GA; brothers, Edwin Eugene Shetter of Aniston, AL and Donald Shetter of Covington, GA; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Russell Whidby; son, Kenneth R. “Ken” Whidby; sister, Dorothy Louise Murphee and brother, Robert Lynn “Bobby” Shetter.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 3808 St James Church Rd, Raleigh, NC 27604.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday evening, April 26, 2013 at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest. (919-556-5811)
