Appalachian State student from Cary found dead on campus

— An Appalachian State University student found dead on campus Wednesday has been identified as a freshman from Cary.

Keegan Garratt, 19, was found dead in her residence hall on Wednesday, the university said Thursday.

The university has not said how Garratt died, but says no foul play is suspected.

ASU is offering counseling to those affected by Garratt’s death, and a memorial book will be placed in ASU’s Plemmons Student Union for people to sign on Friday.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
