Robert Hess: Another ‘McCrony’ act

Another ‘McCrony’ act

Gov. Pat McCrory’s appointment of Raleigh attorney Chris Ayers to head the N.C. Utilities Commission is nothing short of selling out consumers (“McCrory makes utilities picks,” April 30).

Ayers’ portfolio of utility clients could create a conflict of interest with the mission of the commission. Not surprising that the appointment was made given the governor’s background as a consultant for Duke Energy. It doesn’t serve the best interests of any resident to have individuals serve in this capacity connected to the very industry they regulate.

I guess once again our governor is promoting “cronyism” – the very issue he campaigned against.
