Caroline Gluek Chipley

Caroline Gluek Chipley, 67, of Mt. Jackson, Virginia, died on Monday April 15, 2013. Caroline, known as CiCi, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 19, 1945 to the late Ellen Rider Gluek and Alvin C. Gluek, Jr. She was raised in East Lansing, Michigan and spent summers along The Gatineau River in Quebec. She graduated from Wheaton College with a BA in English and later earned a MA in Library Science from MSU.

CiCi worked for Hickory Farms and later owned and managed her own shop, “What’s Cooking” in Warrenton, VA. She was happiest cooking and regularly mailed family and friends cookies, jams and fruitcakes for Christmas and to remember birthdays and anniversaries. She loved to read and was a wonderful pianist. CiCi was thoughtful, kind, generous and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are CiCi’s sister, Elizabeth Holt and her husband, Clyde III of Edenton, NC; her brother, A. Charles Gluek III and his wife, Laura of Toronto, Ontario and by her sister, Martha Evancich and her husband, Robert of Sudbury MA.; seven nieces and one nephew, Katie Holt, Audrey Holt and Erin Johnson, Jennifer Ogonowski, Laura Evancich and Kara Evancich, Cooper and Rachel Gluek; and eight-great nieces and nephews, Adam, Zainab and Ibrahim Sayeed, Owen and Rosalind Holt-Frank, Lucy Johnson and Adele Johnson, and Maya Ogonowski.
