James Grover Henderson

James Grover Henderson, age 70, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 28th, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Henderson was born in Dunn, North Carolina on January 19th, 1943. He is the son of the late Grover C. and Irene Bowles Henderson. Mr. Henderson graduated from Duke University in 1964. After college, Mr. Henderson enlisted in the US Navy. He graduated from Officers Candidate School, attended Naval Justice School and was commissioned as an ensign.

After Vietnam, Mr. Henderson entered the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he earned his law degree, graduating second in his class in 1970. His career in law spanned 35 years, including serving as attorney for Camden County, as the personal attorney for Howard Gilman, and as legal representative for the Rockefeller, Carnegie and other Cumberland Island, Ga. families. He was an avid outdoorsman, holding the Georgia State record for red spot tail sea bass, caught while surf fishing off Cumberland.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife, Sandra R. Henderson; his daughter Caroline Henderson Russell and husband Vann, and grandchildren Lucy Baldwin Russell and Harold Edward Russell III.
