Elizabeth Fox: Common sense needed

Common sense needed

Thank you for your editorial (“Against the wind” April 30) stating concealed carry gun rules need to be tougher not weaker as in a House bill.

Do the people of North Carolina really believe it is smart and safe to allow those with concealed weapon permits to bring their guns into restaurants where liquor is served?

If the legislators believe in common-sense gun legislation then ask them to only put forward the parts of their bill that increases penalties for certain firearm crimes, address adult supervision of firearms and to put our state requirements for reporting judicial findings to the national instant criminal background check system more consistent with federal firearms law.

What they have sandwiched into the middle of this proposed piece of legislation as your editorial says, “goes against common-sense safety and the best interest of the public.”
