Not ‘lifelong’ friends
One of the sadder points of Gene Nichol’s story about Marco Cervantes (“Full of courage, smarts, yet facing an empty future,” April 28) is that his lifelong friends abandoned him because he didn’t have a driver’s license. The parents of those Chapel Hill High School students should be ashamed of the lessons they have taught their children.
It certainly bodes poorly for our next generation of leaders. “Heartbreaking” indeed.
