Chris placed his faith in Jesus Christ in the mid-1970s and was a very active member of Raleigh First Assembly. Chris also co-founded Jobs for Life (formerly The Jobs Partnership), a national ministry devoted to helping unemployed and under-employed individuals find dignity and wholeness in life through meaningful work, to the glory of God. Chris also enjoyed recreational cycling and participated in many long-distance endurance rides, including the 100+ mile Assault on Mount Mitchell, which he completed in 2012.

Bryant; daughter Andrea Mangum Chapman, son-in-law Chad J. Chapman, granddaughters Evangeline P. Chapman and Hazel S. Chapman, and grandson Jude D. Chapman; and son Christopher Charles Mangum, Jr.
