Tri-Ex taking its toll

It is disheartening that The N&O would shill for the Triangle Expressway (“Drivers decide toll is worth it,” May 7 Road Worrier column). If the state decided to raise the income tax 1 percent to 2 percent for residents of southwest Wake County only, imagine the righteous uproar. Yet that is in effect what it has done with the Tri-Ex.

To add insult to injury, Andy Lelewski states, “The tolls went in and they tried to figure another way to go.” But of course the people couldn’t, because in addition to tolling previously existing roads, the Tri-Ex thoughtfully removed both existing directional signs and on-ramps to help guide people on their way ... to paying their toll.
