Sarah Willie Owen

Sarah Willie Owen, 84, died May 3, 2013. She was born in Cary, NC on June 13, 1928. Sarah Willie graduated from the Watts School of Nursing, then married and raised a family with Leonard Owen. She was an avid golfer, an active church member and Dorcas volunteer. She loved dancing and singing and was always humming a tune or tapping her feet. She never met a stranger and loved spending time with kids. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her children, Steve Owen and wife, Kathleen, David C. Owen, Lynn Schenk and husband, Mike, and Tina Ley and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, David, Lindsey, Daniel, Patrick, Brian, Megan, and McKenzie; great grandchildren, Sutton and Noah; and sister, Alice Margaret Rowland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard H. Owen, father, Jim Collier, mother Louise Gibson and brothers, Mack and Bobby.

The family will receive friends starting at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, with a funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. A reception will be held immediately after the funeral service. Following the reception, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh.
