Fire damages sushi restaurant in Raleigh’s Cameron Village

— Fire severely damaged a sushi restaurant in Cameron Village early Wednesday morning.

A security guard called 911 shortly after 2 a.m. to report the fire at Sushi Gami at 427 Woodburn Road, according to the Raleigh Fire Department.

About 60 firefighters were dispatched to the restaurant, where smoke was coming from the roof of the one-story building, according to a fire report.

It took firefighters less than 30 minutes to knock down the fire.

Fire and smoke damaged about 50 percent of the building. No one was injured.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
