This weekend, Carrboro’s ArtsCenter begins a run of “Walt,” a play about the American poet’s life and work. The piece, written by William M. Whitman (the poet’s sixth cousin), with music by Jonathan Price, won a meritorious achievement award at the Kennedy Center’s American College Theater Festival. 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday (through 5/19). $10-$16. 919-929-2787; artscenterlive.org.
