Colonel William Sprague “Bill” Tilton

Colonel William Sprague “Bill” Tilton, 92, of Raleigh died January 31, 2013. Colonel Tilton was born in Rawlings, Wyoming on September 22, 1920 to Elvin Tilton and Margaret Doland Tilton. He served his country during WWII and the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Lang Tilton; sons: Russell Tilton of AZ, and David G Hickman of Raleigh; daughters: Karen Spinella of PA, Kathy Nicholson of SC, and Julia R. Clay of VA; brother: Irwin Tilton of TX; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s St. Raleigh, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Wounded Warriors Project.
