Raleigh father charged with child abuse in 10-month-old's eye injury

WAKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

— Brelynd Najee McClain, 21, of Raleigh is charged with causing a retinal hemorrhage in his 10-month-old child late last month.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by Raleigh police, the child suffered “abusive head trauma” on April 28.

Police arrested McClain on Thursday night at his apartment at 3000 Walnut Creek Parkway.

He is charged with intentional child abuse causing serious injury.

The arrest warrant said McClain was the child’s parent, but did not say if the baby was a boy or a girl.

Police did not say if the baby suffered long-term damage from the eye injury.

McClain was held in lieu of $100,000 bail for a court appearance Friday.
