Ravenscroft's Wesley Frazier adds 3 running titles to career

Ravenscroft’s Wesley Frazier, one of the top high school distance runners in the country, won the Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Association championships in the 3,200 meters, the 1,600 meters and the 800 meters for the fourth straight year on Saturday.

Frazier is a multiple national champion and will run in the N.C. Independent School Athletic Association state 3A championships on Friday and Saturday at Ravenscroft.

She led the Ravenscroft girls to the TISAC team title as the Ravens topped Cary Academy 128-104.

North Raleigh Christian won the boys title, topping Ravenscroft 91-83.

Millbrook girls win: Millbrook (21-1-1) escaped the NCHSAA 4A soccer second round with a 3-2 victory over Cary (11-7-2). Alex Hitson headed in the winner with 1:44 left to secure a third round berth against nationally top-ranked Green Hope.

NCHSAA 3A soccer: Cardinal Gibbons (18-2-1) bopped Western Alamance 6-0 in the second round of the playoffs.

NCHSAA 2A soccer: Sophomore Jessica Wallace scored five goals to lead Kill Devil Hills First Flight to a 7-3 victory over Corinth Holders in the second round of the NCHSAA 2A girls’ tournament.

Felice Hewitt, Bella Iorio and Stacey Walton scored for Corinth.

First Flight (12-3-1) will play Carrboro (19-2-2) in the third round. Carrboro defeated Edenton Holmes 7-0 on Saturday.

1A tennis: Dylan Cuddington of Rosewood High won the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A singles championship, defeating Hendersonville’s Jacob Fuqua 6-2, 6-1.

2A tennis: Carrboro freshman Brian Freiburghouse lost in the finals of the NCHSAA 1A tennis championships to Shelby’s Marshall Parker, 6-0, 6-0.

NCISAA soccer: Cary Academy defeated Saint Mary’s School 4-1 to earn a berth in the second round of the 3A girls soccer championship. Cary Academy (14-3) will play Charlotte Providence Day in the second round.

Durham Academy (14-1) had a first round bye and will play Gaston Christian, which defeated North Raleigh Christian 8-6.

Cary Christian (13-4) advanced in the NCISAA 2A tournament with a 3-2 win over Burlington Christian. Cary Christian will play Fayetteville Academy on Tuesday.

In 1A, Raleigh Trinity shut out Flora McDonald 6-0. Trinity faces Wilson Greenfield in the second round.

Bengals impress: Fuquay-Varina’s baseball and softball teams were impressive winners on Friday night. The baseball team blanked East Chapel Hill 11-0, and the softball team topped East Chapel Hill 14-0.

Leesville Road plays at Fuquay in baseball, and Southern Pines Pinecrest plays at Fuquay in softball in the second round.
