Plenty of research
As a former dean of N.C. State’s College of Natural Resources, Robert Brown is entitled to his own opinion regarding the sale of Hofmann Forest (letter, May 9). He is not entitled to his own facts – specifically his claim that the forest “has been little used for teaching and research.” During my 35 years on the faculty, I made annual pilgrimages there with students on both teaching and research missions. Field research on the Hofmann Forest has contributed to some 18 master’s and Ph.D. theses and at least two dozen published articles.
