Kevin Carlson Wakefield, Jr. of Clayton, NC passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 in Wilmington, NC. Kevin was the son of KC and Debra Wakefield of Clayton. He was born September 5, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois.
He was a graduate of Clayton High School and studied communications at UNC Chapel Hill. In high school he played soccer and tennis for the Clayton Comets. He was the first recipient of the Clayton Alumni Association Scholarship. He was passionate about music and rarely heard a rock song he didn’t know. He was also a fan of movies and had a photographic memory for movie trivia. Kevin had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. Kevin was a recruiter in the packaging industry for SelectCorr, Inc.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister, Katie Norris and husband, Drew, and his brother, Carter. Also surviving are his grandfather, Harold Wakefield, and grandmother, Hallie Newton. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church in Clayton.
