Saltwater

Oregon Inlet

Offshore boats are reporting limited bites on yellowfin tuna and dolphin due to the recent weather in the area. Contact: Oregon Inlet Fishing Center 252-441-6301, www.oregon-inlet.com.

Buxton/Hatteras

Ocracoke/Portsmouth

Surf anglers are still catching good amounts of red drum and sea mullet. Offshore, grouper and wahoo are biting with scattered king mackerel. Contact: Tradewinds Bait & Tackle 252-928-5491, fishtradewinds.com.

Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

Trout are biting in the rivers. In the surf, large red drum, bluefish, black drum, sheepshead and sea mullet are biting. Inshore, black drum and puppy drum are biting. Topsail Island

Offshore boats are reporting good results with grou per and blackfin tuna. Inshore anglers caught speckled trout, red drum, puppy drum and flounder throughout the week. Contact: East Coast Discount Tackle 910-328-1887, eastcoastsports.com.

Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach

Inshore anglers are reporting red drum, black drum, puppy drum, sea mullet and flounder. Surf anglers caught a fair amount of drum, s ea mullet and blu efish. Offshore boats are keeping their lines tight with w ahoo, grouper, dolphin and blackfin tuna. Contact: Tex’s Tackle 910-791-1763, texstackle.com.

Southport/Sunset Beach

Freshwater

Falls Lake

L argemouth bass have moved to medium depths, and are still biting on jerkbaits and crankbaits. Crappie are biting minnows at shallow to medium depths. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 252.13, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-847-1222; wmi.org.

Jordan Lake

Small c rappie have been caught on minnows, but not many keepers. Water level: normal 216, Wednesday 217.32, full pool 240. Contact: Wilsonville General Store 919-362-7101; crappie.com.

Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass are biting on crankbaits and jigs at medium depths and are the only fish being caught. Water level: normal 300, Wednesday 302.21, full pool 320. Contact: Bobcats Bait and Tackle 434-374-8381; kerrlake.com.

Lake Wheeler

Crappie are beginning to bite on minnows. Largemouth bass are being caught on crankbaits in deeper waters. Catfish are biting on chicken livers. Contact: Park office 919-662-5704

Shearon Harris Lake

Crappie are being caught shallow on both artificial baits and minnows. Largemouth bass are bedding and are biting on plastics and jigs. Contact: The Tackle Box 919-557-8255; wmi.org.
