Gloria Elias "Glo" Clark

May 19, 2013

Mrs. Gloria Elias “Glo” Clark, 68, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013.

The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park.

Glo was a native of Weldon, NC and was born to the late Susie and Edward Elias. She was a 1962 graduate of Weldon High School and 1967 graduate of East Carolina University. She worked as a Physical Education teacher in Ayden and later sold real estate in a company started by she and her husband. After starting a family, Glo became a fulltime homemaker. She became a “baseball mom” when her boys starting playing ball and remained so until they all completed their playing years. Glo will be fondly remembered for nurturing many of her son’s friends as her home was theirs and often was where the many boys liked to hang out.

Glo found a love of fishing and with her late sister, Joyce Ann Simpson, they were the best on the water. In Wilmington, she was in her favorite environment on the water in her boat with her many friends, both old and new. Her attention soon turned to her grandchildren when they were born and they were the joy of her life. She selflessly gave her complete love and devotion to her family and friends and she was loved by many. A huge void will be felt with her death but will be filled with the knowledge that heaven will be a brighter place!

She is survived by: husband of 47 years, William Hunter Clark; sons, William Hunter Clark, Jr. and wife, Ashley, of Greenville, Edward Heath Clark and wife, Casey, of Wilmington, and Lance Lyle Clark and wife, Melissa, of Greenville; grandchildren, Elias William Clark, Luke Thomas Clark, Kaylie Jean Clark, Campbell Lynn Clark, and Kennedy Carol Clark; brother, Edward Joseph Elias, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beau’s Buddies Cancer Fund/GGCF, Cancer Fund, 2326 Lillies Dream Lane, Greenville NC 27834, Cherubs CDH Research, 3650 Rogers Rd. #290, Wake Forest, NC 27587, or to the East Carolina University Educational Foundation, ECU Pirate Club, Ward Sports Medicine Building, Suite 304 East Carolina University, Greenville, NC 27858.
