Westbound lanes of Interstate 40 in southeast Raleigh reopen to traffic

— An accident shut down westbound Interstate 40 at the 301 mile marker in southeast Raleigh for more than four hours Monday.

The accident, which involved a tractor-trailer truck, took place shortly after 9 a.m. Monday. Crews directed traffic onto Interstate-440 for a 16-mile detour around the north and west sides of the city.

All lanes reopened shortly before 1:30 p.m.
