RALEIGH — Wake County school leaders have announced the date, time and location for the public to meet the three finalists for schools superintendent.
The forum will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Auditorium at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, 2 East South Street. The forum is part of a two-day series of events for the three people vying to replace Tony Tata as Wakes permanent superintendent.
This week, school leaders announced that Dana Bedden, the superintendent of the Irving Independent School District in Texas, Ann Clark, the deputy superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools; and James Merrill, the superintendent of Virginia Beach, Va., City Schools are their top choices to lead the states largest school system.
The school board will hold final interviews with the candidates on Wednesday in private. The board will then meet behind closed doors to attempt to choose one candidate with whom theyll enter contract negotiations.
School board chairman Keith Sutton said he hopes to hold the official vote hiring the new superintendent on June 4. He said he expects the new superintendent will start in August.
