Two people killed in accident Sunday on U.S. 64 near Knightdale

From staff reportsMay 27, 2013

— Two people were killed Sunday night after a pickup truck and passenger car collided on U.S. 64 near Knightdale.

Megan Williams, 22, of Raleigh and her passenger, Brooke Byrnes, 25, of Norristown, PA., were killed, according to the State Highway Patrol. Three people in the pickup truck received minor injuries, the patrol said.

The crash occurred about 10:10 p.m. on U.S. 64 near Interstate 540. Troopers say a Mazda driven by Williams was traveling west when it crossed the median into the eastbound lanes of U.S. 64 where it crashed into a Cadillac pick-up truck.

A third car sideswipped the truck, but no one in that car was injured.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused Williams to run off the road.
