Johnston crash claims life of 4-year-old girl, hurts four adults

— A 4-year-old girl died in a one-car crash off N.C. 96 in Johnston County and four adults were taken to hospitals after the car went off the pavement and struck a tree, the state Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened about 4 p.m. Wednesday between Antioch Church Road and Price Road, troopers said.

Madison Creech of Middlesex died in the accident.

Latricia Lynn Slack, who was driving, Ty-anna Atkins, Matthew Grant Creech, and Derrell Atkins were hurt, troopers said.

The car crossed the center line of the road and ran off the opposite side, troopers said.

The crash scene is near Cattail Lake.
